Mod-Ac 1/24 Surrey With The Fringe On Top Carriage, C842 plastic model kit

1/24 C842 Mod-Ac Surrey With The Fringe On Top Carriage

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Rare. Age unknown - likely 1940s. This is a very highly detailed period kit of a light two seat, four wheel carriage that way the pride and joy of the family during the late 19th and early 20th century. It was made famous and introduced to a new generation in the hit musical Oklahoma!, which had a great song about this vehicle. The kit consists of black injection molded spoke wheels and carriage lamps, die cut flexible 'leather' plastic for the spring leaves, numerous parts die-cut plastic sheet, wood parts all cut to shape, formed and stock wire parts, cloth, fringe material, full size plans and detailed instructions. The actual carriage itself (no horse equipment) measures 6 inches long when assembled. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory sealed are still factory sealed; the larger parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete including plans and instructions. If it were not for Mod-Ac, we would not have many accurate models of early historic Western transportation; as an added bonus, they were all made to a uniform 1/24 scale. Mod-Ac was a manufacture of early hobby kits out of Los Angeles California. During World War II they issued a well known kit line of military vehicles. The company was innovative as this kit shows - the wide variety of materials, pre-carved wood and highly detailed plans and instructions put this model many notches above the 'make wood look like vehicle' type of kit.
