Mod-Ac 1/24 Break Carriage, C551 plastic model kit

1/24 C551 Mod-Ac Break Carriage

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Rare. Age unknown - likely 1940s. This is a very highly detailed period kit of a common multi-seat two-horse carriage. The kit consists of red injection molded spoke wheels and clear carriage lamps, die cut flexible 'leather' plastic for the spring leaves, numerous parts die-cut plastic sheet, wood parts all cut to shape, formed and stock wire parts, leatherette upholstering material in red and black, shafts, full size plans and detailed instructions. The actual carriage itself (no horse equipment) measures 7 inches long when assembled. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory sealed are still factory sealed; the larger parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete including plans and instructions. If it were not for Mod-Ac, we would not have many accurate models of early historic Western transportation; as an added bonus, they were all made to a uniform 1/24 scale. Mod-Ac was a manufacture of early hobby kits out of Los Angeles California. During World War II they issued a well known kit line of military vehicles. The company was innovative as this kit shows - the wide variety of materials, pre-carved wood and highly detailed plans and instructions put this model many notches above the 'make wood look like vehicle' type of kit.
