1/60 6087 Billing Boats Andrea Gail 608 Fishing Boat The Perfect Storm - 36 cm Plank On Frame Hull Wooden Ship Kit

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Very highly detailed model of the actual fishing vessel that departed Gloucester Harbour, Massachusetts on September 20, 1991 with six crew on board. The crew intended to make a fishing trip for swordfish in the area of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada. After fishing, the crew began the return trip on October 26-27, 1991. She never arrived. The Andrea Gail 608 was reported missing by the owner, Mr. Robert Brown on Oct 30. And extensive air and sea search utilizing Canadian and USA resources never found a trace of the ship or crew. They were lost at sea in what one meteorologist referred to as the "Perfect Storm." A book written about this ship and storm was a national best seller and was turned into a major motion picture. The actual kit features laser cut hardwood, strip hardwood, numorous brass and metal fittings, some injection molded details, all rigging material, detailed heavily illustrated instructions and more. The kit has not been started. Internal factory sealed parts and the few parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete.
