1/72 Delta 2 Macchi Castoldi MC-72 Racing Float Plane - (MC72)
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good+
Still the only model in this scale of this beautiful, classic aircraft. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, the forward propeller. Otherwise includes all other parts, decals and instructions. This racer was built for the 1933 Schneider cup. Only one was produced. This plane was piloted by Francesco Agello and won the world speed record for Italy on October 23, 1934 with a speed of 440.67 mph. The floatplane had a unique engine arrangement with two independent motors mounted front to back driving counter-rotating props. Drag was minimized by close cowling to the blocks and the least possible braces for the floats.
