1975 issue from the famous 1950s 'S' molds. Very well detailed for that time and molded, like most early Revell sailing ships. Features full hull with display stand, detailed deck fittings and houses, separately masts and yards arms, separately molded belaying pins, excellent deadeye assemblies, lifeboats, premolded rat lines, rigging instructions, standing and running rigging material and vacuform billowing sails. The sails are in 'near mint' condition. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. This 295' bark rigged sailing ship was originally built in 1936 in Bremerhaven, Germany, for the German Navy. It was originally named Horst Vessel. The vessel was acquired in 1946 as a World War II war reparation. The ship was named the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, and has been used ever since as a training ship for future U.S. Coast Guard Officers. Eagle is based in New London, Connecticut.
