GMM 1 295 Berkeley 3 Flying Model Jetex Missiles / Regulus II / Bomarc / X-16 Two Stage - PSST 50 Jet Rocket Engine

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Very rare and from the 1950s. Includes factory pre-fabricated and painted wooden Regulus II (17.5 inches long), Bomarc (17.5" long) and X-16 Two-Part 'Man in Space' concept rocket (28.5" long if placed end-to-end) as well as the metal 'PSST 50' rocket engine which essentially a Jetex engine. There is a high degree of prefabrication. The factory glued the rudders into place and all you do is slide a few parts into place, put the jet engine into the already-attached metal engine holder and you are ready to fly! Can also be run on CO2 power or rubber band catapult launched. The kit has never been started. The missiles are inventoried complete and still in place on the factory display cardboard. The jet engine is present and has never been used. There is one wooden dowel for catapult rubber band launch and full instructions including trimming and flying tips. NOTE: some parts were factory taped together; that tape has naturally fallen off and is gone. Two balsa parts have breaks, but both broken parts are present and fit back together perfectly for an easy fix. Thanks to Dale Rhodes, there is a reference to this kit in 1958. So far that is the earliest known print add.
