Revell 1/122 DC-7 Flagship American Airlines One-Piece Stand Arm Pre -S Issue, H219-98 plastic model kit

1/122 H219-98 Revell DC-7 Flagship American Airlines One-Piece Stand Arm Pre -S Issue

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Very rare true first issue from 1954/55 with the rare one-piece stand arm and correct instructions. This Pre-S model has fantastic artwork of a DC-7 at the moment just before touchdown. It is easy to see why these models are considered the pinnacle of box artwork and so so collectible today. Besides the one piece stand arm and instructions, another difference in the first issue is that the main gear axles are separate parts on this issue. On the second issues the gear struts were modified and the axles were moved to the wheels, and the stand arm was changed to two plastic parts because the one-piece stand arm was fragile and in use it broke easily. Few true first issues were made because Revell quickly corrected this weakness. Correctly molded in gloss silver and clear and a large, colorful decal sheet. Inside, the kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Instructions are 'very good++' with the detailed American Airlines route map on the back. Decals are also 'very good++' and flat with no curl and the typical yellowing as the main flaw. The box has excellent color and gloss as shown but has general wear, very faint writing in the white zone of the 'REVELL' logo and a small litho tear shown at the center top of the box.
