Planet Models 1/72 XFL-1 Airabonita (US Navy XP-39 Airacobra) - Late Modification, 140 plastic model kit

1/72 140 Planet Models XFL-1 Airabonita (US Navy XP-39 Airacobra) - Late Modification

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Rare. Beautiful resin kit with all fine recessed panel lines, full interior, two vacuform canopies, standard or optional pitch prop blades and full decals. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Bell FXL-1 Airabonita was one of three new spec Navy prototype fighters. It competed with the Grumman XF5F-1 and the Vought XF4U-1 Corsair. The Bell offering was made from an Army XP-39 fighter. There were engine and undercarriage problems during trials, as well as handling issues. Bell modified the aircraft (this model "late modification") in many ways, but it was still no match for the Corsair, which won the competition.
