1/50 5069-100 UPC North American P-51D Mustang - With Markings for Two USAAF 8th AF Aircraft (ex-Hawk)
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Sealed NM
Still factory sealed. Purchased new on May 19, 1967 at Woolworths in Cleveland, Ohio. Mold origins unknown - possible Marusan molds. If so, then Marusan copied the Hawk kit as the part layout, panel lines and rivets are identical. Good kit with recessed and raised panel lines. Includes cockpit, rockets, drop tanks, optional position canopy and gear and decals for two different 8th Air Force aircraft. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.
