Revell 1/25 Mickey Thompsons Challenger I - World's Fastest Car 406.6 MPH, H1281-198 plastic model kit

1/25 H1281-198 Revell Mickey Thompsons Challenger I - World's Fastest Car 406.6 MPH

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Original issue hardbox dated 1962. Not the common reissue. When released that year, it was a revolutionary kit that broke new ground in 1/25 level of detail. In Tom Graham's interviews with Jim Keeler, the kit designer, the molds cost $80,000 in 1961 - twice that of a normal car kit. To design the kit, Thompson's mechanics gave the Revell team full run of the vehicle and even disassembled it for them. The kit features removable boy panels, four super detailed Pontiac V-8 engines with 18 parts each, complete chassis, suspension and drive train detail, water tanks, fuel tanks, parachute holder, cockpit and much more. The level of detail is astounding. Molded in correct gloss baby blue, silver, chrome plated and with rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has minor and very neat assembly. The engine blocks/heads/intake manifold/fuel pumps have been assembled. The transmission halves/bellhousing/tranny mounts are also assembled. Quality of assembly ranges from 'professional' to 'excellent++' with no gaps, perfect alignment and no to very little glue showing. There is no other assembly and zero painting. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
