JSC 1/250 Goeben Battlecruiser, 251 plastic model kit

1/250 251 JSC Goeben Battlecruiser

Cardstock Paper Model Kit

Very large scale model and highly detailed. The famous Goeben was the second of her the Moltke class, completed after Von der Tann and Moltke. Goeben was 3,600 tons heavier than Von der Tann by addition of a fifth main turret. The hull shape and protection were improved; given the soon-to-be-proven toughness of Von der Tann, this was probably not necessary. The Goeben and Breslau entered the Dardanelles and were transferred to Turkey but under German Command. They spent their useful lives in and around the Black Sea in a very, very active careers. The Goeben was officially transferred to Turkey after the war and still existed in 1926 but still heavily damaged. She was fixed and remained became the Turkish flagship until decommissioning in 1953. The Turks offered her to the Germans in the early 1970s, but they refused to buy her back and she was scrapped in 1973. This is historically disappointing, as she was the longest serving dreadnought-type ship in the world and the only surviving ship of the Imperial German Navy.
