1/96 1036 Bluejacket Portland 1890 - Paddlewheel Steamship

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

36 inch long kit with fantastic detail. The Portland was a famous steamer of the Portland Steam Packet Corporation, which carried passenger and freight between Portland, Maine and Boston. On Thanksgiving night, 1898, she steamed into the strongest storm of the decade and was lost. The storm is still known at the 'Portland Gale.' Kit features extensive fittings cast in Britannia metal and brass, ornate photoetched brass paddle box covers, beautiful pre-carved Basswood hull, six full sized brass radials, all wooden parts required for the decks, superstructure, mast, etc, full sized plans provided by the Maine Maritime Museum and a large step-by-step instruction booklet. Never started. The large parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete, while all small parts are still in factory sealed bags.
