Hillcrest 1/48 1910 Curtiss Pusher Model A, 100 plastic model kit

1/48 100 Hillcrest 1910 Curtiss Pusher Model A

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Old and rare kit from 1952. When most kits were wood, Hillcrest has to put 'Prefabricated Parts' on the cover to distinguish it from other models of the time. The kit has injection molded main parts in the frame of the actual aircraft. The small cello bag is still present and contains injected details such as the engine and tank and the clear molded wheel disks. There is also a very small evelope of 'Plastic Cement' as plastic model cement was not even available at store during this time. The instructions on it say to 'Dissolve Contents In 1/2 ox C.P. Acetone.' The instructions have a very nice three view drawing, parts diagram and written instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Please note that this kit actually has a kit number stamped on it in two locations. Normally they are not numbered. The Curtiss Pusher Model A was designed and flown by Glenn Curtiss. This aircraft made a record-breaking flight from Albany to New York, giving millions of New Yorkers their first look at a flying machine. Later, with a larger 100HP V-8 engine, it won the world speed record at the first French International Air Meet. Additionally, it was the first aircraft to land and take off of a carrier.
