1/24 Frontier Surrey With The Fringe On Top

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Rare multi-media kit from the late 1940s/Early 1950s. Very well detailed and realistic scale model of a four-seat transverse-spring horse drawn buggy with a fabric top. Features many hardwood and balsa parts all cut to shape, plastic suspension springs, wheels, axles and hubs, metal stock, seat covering fabric, cardstock 'fringe' for the top and full size plans and instructions. NOTE: there has been minor assembly. The coach 'box' (5 parts) has been neatly built. It is square and straight. Seat panels have been correctly sanded and half of them covered with fabric. The quality of all work is 'excellent.' There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Frontier Novelty Manufacturing Co. of Los Angeles California was founded by Eli LaCaille. Mr. LaCaille specialized in kits from the 'Pioneering Days' of the USA. He probably began production in the 1940s. By 1951 he was selling 85,000 kits a year. It was also called 'Frontier Manufacturing Company' and that address was given simply as 'Hollywood, California.' These were deluxe, high-quality multi-media models that included the Ox Cart, Buck Board, Covered Wagon, Stage Coach, Ranch Wagon, Chuck Wagon, Surrey With The Fringe On Top, Ore Wagon, Beer Wagon, big-scale 10 Mule Team Borax vehicles, Top Buggy and more.
