Rare kit from the late 1930s of the prototype Lightning. Very large model that was expensive and well out of reach of most youngsters. Few were produced, making them even rarer. This kit is in exceptional, factory-new condition inside. Features the original receipt from L.S. Ayres & Co in Indianapolis, IN, stripwood still factory taped, two large sheet of die-cut printwood with no parts punched out, four very large sheets of Ott-O-Formers with no parts punched out, two beautiful printwood props, two colors of tissue (never unfolded), a factory paper bag containing metal hardware, completely carved wheels and thrust buttons, clear canopy material, large color insignia sheet and near mint full size plans that appear to have never been unfolded. The box is complete but has general wear, yellowing and staining as shown. The kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts, insignia sheet and plans.
