Kit is about 15 inches long when built. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including flags and instructions. The 'Independence' type Top Sail Schooners were built at the famous shipyards of Webb and Allen during the early 1800s. Ten clippers of this type were built for the US Government to enforce and collect revenue duties. The extreme rake of the masts with the added square sails on the top foremast made them fast and very maneuverable with a small crew. The War Schooners were very light vessels - only 73 feet long with a 20 foot beam and of 112 displacement. The bulwarks were cut out with more gun ports than guns to help lighten the ship. The armament consisted of two 9 pounders and four 6 pounders, which were shifted around the deck to fire from different gun ports and the need required.
