Ideal Aeroplane & Supply USS Alexander Hamilton Revenue Cutter - 22 Inch Hull Wooden Ship Model

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Wood and metal kit from 1947. Completed model measures 22 inches long. NOTE: This is a builder kit only. It is not a collector kit. It has been started. The precarved balsa hull has been completed. Quality of the work is excellent. The hull is ready to seal and paint. 90% of the printwood parts have been cut out. Only the main deck was cut out neatly - the quality of the remaining work is fair to poor. Some parts were not cut straight and cuts extend inside the outlines. Some parts were glued then removed, and some of them broke. Several small parts are missing like one trailboard, skylight, one cabin side, one door and perhaps more. Luckily they can all be made from sheet balsa. It will take a talented and intrepid modeler who is not afraid of scratch building to complete this kit! Includes all of the round stock for masts, yards and square stock as well. I believe the metal fittings are complete - they include two whale boats, one lifeboat, two inclined ladders (stairs), two ships wheels, two eyelets and 6 cannon. The original running rigging thread is present and the full size plans are complete, readable and completely useable but only in 'good' condition. The Alexander Hamilton was a beautiful revenue cutter in service from 1871 to 1906. She took part in the Spanish-American War as part of the Havana harbor blockade fleet. After her service, she was sold to a private individual in 1906.
