1/128 433-198 Aurora Corsair American Privateer With Sails
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good
NOTE: builder kit ONLY, please read carefully. Has significant assembly. Second issue with oval logo. Privateers were actually civilian ships manned by private citizens. The early US Government gave the ships 'letters of marque' and they were free to raid English shipping interests with the blessing of the US Government. Approximately 500 were in service until the practice was abolished. Although they were technically successful in raiding British shipping, the British soon blockaded the US ports and almost shut down the import/export trade. This kit is dated 1963 and is a nicely detailed model for that time. Full hull model includes detailed deck fittings, separately molded cannon, standing rigging thread, rigging instructions and diagrams, display stand, flag sheet, premolded rat lines and billowing vacuform sails. Molded in wood tan and black. NOTE: this kit has significant neat assembly. The display stand is built as well as the hull halves, deck and some deck fittings. Quality of assembly is 'excellent+' to 'near mint.' The hull is painted to 'very good' quality and most smaller parts are painted to 'excellent' quality. The kit has been inventoried complete with all parts, flags and instructions present but the bowsprit has the martingale broke off and missing. The sails are in amazing 'near mint' condition.
