1/22 B-22M Sterling Yacht America (1951-1959) - For Radio Control (RC)

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Very rare. Sterling was once the undisputed king of large RC wood and metal ship kits, having a complete line of Chris Craft yachts, merchantman 'American Scout', battleship USS Missouri, Texaco Lumba Lumba, Schooner Emma C. Berry and this legendary racing schooner Yacht American. Ship fittings kit B-22M is included also. This is a kit of the ship built by WH Brown of NY and launched on May 3, 1851. Her initial claim to fame was the winning of the Hundred Guinea Cup, which then became known as the America's Cup. She served with distinction on both sides of the US Civil War but was destroyed when a protective shed collapsed on her in 1944. The model represents the ship as she was rigged at launch and up to 1859. Features accurately die cut balsa an imported birch plywood, birch decks with planking groves printed in, tampered masts, booms and spars, miniature rope for standing and running rigging in the correct color and size, fine quality cloth sail, chain, dozens of detailed cast metal fittings and hardware, full size plans and instructions. Can be built for static display, single channel rudder, or full RC of the rudder and sails. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all die cut wood sheets, flags, clear material for windows, and instructions.
