1/48 618-50 Hawk Supermarine S6B Racer (S-6B S.6B)
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: NM
Hardbox issue dated 1958 with Bill Campbell artwork. Very nicely molded kit with fine recessed panel lines and raised rib lines. Excellent fit. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The S6B was designed by RJ Mitchel for Schneider Trophy Races. The S6B was powered by a liquid cooled Rolls Royce V-12 with radiators on the bottom and side fuselage skins. The aircraft won the Schneider in 1931 at 341.8 mph and later set a world record as the first aircraft to exceed 400 mph. Mitchell incorporated the best parts of the S6B into his masterful creation, the Spitfire, which was completed just before his death. Mitchell saw the war coming and understood the need for the Spitfire. He knew that he was very ill, but was driven to complete this design for his country.
