Ideal Aeroplane & Supply Keystone Commuter - Midget Craft 6 inch wingspan Solid Balsa Airplane Model

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Very old 1932 issue from Ideal Aeroplane & Supply Company. Ideal was one of the first US model airplane producers, starting their business in 1911. During the early years of the Great Depression, Ideal switched to balsa wood and soon released a line of 'Six Inch Wingspread' solid scale models in a line called 'Ideal Midget-Craft'. Adds for this line can be seen in Model Airplane News and other major popular aircraft publications of the 1930s. The models included plans and the required wood-they usually retailed for about 10 cents. This aircraft has been started, which in this case is good news. The fuselage from Ideal was simply wooden stock. The original builder has carved the fuselage very accurately and correctly to about 90% finished. He has done the same quality of work to the upper wings and has carefully cut out the other parts. The model is complete and would be easy to finish.
