Sterling Nieuport 17 Launches Rockets in Flight - 24 Inch Wingspan For Free Flight / Control Line / R/C, A5-298 plastic model kit

A5-298 Sterling Nieuport 17 Launches Rockets in Flight - 24 Inch Wingspan For Free Flight / Control Line / R/C

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

This large scale kit is from the 1970s and includes innovative system for automatically firing wing rockets in flight. The Sterling Fokker D-7 has the same system; other models such as the Stuka and P-6E drop bombs in flight; another actually drops leaflets while another crop dusts. This model is designed to fly one of three ways; free flight (rubber or gas, control line or R/C. If you are experienced, you can even make it electric powered R/C. Features precision, die-cut balsa wood parts, lightweight and detailed plastic cowl with engine front, machine gun & pilot bust, fully formed wheels with rubber tires, complete rocket firing system with fully finished rockets, launching tubes and hardware, plastic propeller, fully formed wire landing gear struts, rubber motor, covering tissue, a large and beautiful decal sheet and superb Sterling full size plans with instructions. Never started and the small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the larger parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits due to their many additional features.
