1/72 72017 High Planes Atlas Cheetah C South African Air Force Fighter
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc++
During the arms embargo on South African in the 1980s, the government realized the need for a domestically produced high performance jet fighter. The Atlas-built Cheetah was a completely remanufactured Mirage III with so many upgrades and changes that it emerged a different aircraft and was considered to be "Zero Time" airframe and powerplant. The Cheetah was built to combat the new types of aircraft in the Angolan boarder war, such as the Mig-23. Although it had an active and successful service life, it did not see combat. Includes resin and metal details. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
