Contrail 1/72 Saunders-Roe S.36 Lerwick - (S-36) plastic model kit

1/72 Contrail Saunders-Roe S.36 Lerwick - (S-36)

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

The Lerwick was an all metal flying boat powered by two Hercules engines. Initial versions had twin stabilizers and rudders. Designed for long patrols, she was armed with three powered turrets and a variety of weapons. The Lerwick was found to be aerodynamically unstable, even with the addition of a single large vertical fin. Because of this, it was not used much and only 21 were built. The PBY was found to be a much easier platform to fly, and the last Lerwick patrol was in 1943. This model features vac main parts, decals and injection molded and cast white metal details. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and plans/instructions. Significant modeling skill is required to build vacuform kit. Not recommended for beginners.
