1/72 002 MAI North American AGM-28 Hound Dog (GAM-77 / WS-131/WS-132) Cruise Missile

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Cast resin kit of the mach 2 cruise missile. Hound Dog was suppose to be an interim weapon until Skybolt was ready. Skybolt never became a reality (due to Polaris and other technical issues and costs) and over 400 Hound Dogs were made and they served with 29 SAC wings well into the 1970s until the AGM-69 SRAM became available. The initial idea was that the missile would help 'pave the way' by eliminating radar and missile sights ahead of the bomber, allowing the bomber to reach the target and drop large gravity weapons. Later, as with SRAM, it was decided that Hound Dog could be fired at the main targets also as the defenses became even thicker. This thinking eventually lead to the 1980s cruise missile. Includes launch pylon and very detailed instructions with the history of the Hound Dog it's paint jobs and markings. Complete and unstarted.
