Production was over 10,000 planes, making if more prolific than any other US Biplane design. Kaydets help to train over 60,000 allied airmen in WWII. Never started. This is a scale stick and tissue rubber powered flying model that features die cut balsa parts, vacuform nose, wheels, plastic propeller, hardware, vacuform canopy, colored tissue, insignia and full size plans with detailed building instructions. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

First issue from the early 1950s in the one-piece box. Molded in high gloss yellow and black. The model has not been started. Complete with instructions and all parts. This kit is from early in this first issue, and the first kits were not issued with decals. In the 1920s through the 1940s Hawk made constant scale 1/48 aircraft kits from wood. In 1946 they added plastic injection molded kits to the line and were possibly the first injection molded kit manufacturer in the USA. When Hawk made an early jump to all-plastic kits they kept the 1/48 scale and created these new one-piece boxes with two color artwork.

Very rare 1956 first issue hardbox with the one-year-only 'Northern Lights' rectangular logo. This logo was was replaced the very next year with the famous oval 'Famous Fighters' Starburst. Inside, the kit is 100% correct for the first issue and includes the early rectangular-based stand, instructions showing this stand, the correct decal sheet with no stand decal and is molded in gloss olive drab green and clear. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. It even includes the original factory tissue packing paper. Please NOTE that the box would grade slightly higher but it rated as 'very good+' because there are two tape tears on the lower long box side.

Very nicely early kit from Hales who also had the Yeoman line of flying aircraft kits. This model features a shaped wooden hull, early injection molded life boats, dead-eyes, figurehead and ships wheel, a full set of flags and sails, injection mast platforms, metal chain, numerous brass rigging parts, precut wood, wood stock for masts, yards, metal stock, three types of rigging material, colorful insignia sheet with front scrollwork, rear scrollwork and name, name plate and cabin sides with windows and doors, detailed instruction sheet, large, foldout photographic sheet showing construction at many phases (and keyed to the instructions) and full size plans with rigging details. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete including flags, instructions, photo sheet and plans.

Very rare first issue from 1956 with the 'Northern Lights' rectangular logo. This logo was only used one year. This famous model is also part of the '12 O'Clock High' B-17 Set. Features many clear windows and clear turret 'blisters', nose turret and tail guns, landing gear, rotating propellers and a display stand. Inside, the kit is 100% correct for a first issue. It includes the early clear West Hempstead rectangular stand, instructions showing this stand and the correct decal sheet with no stand decal. Molded in gloss dark green and clear. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Decals are in 'excellent+' condition and the instructions are near mint. Even includes the original factory tissue packing paper. Please NOTE that this is a later 1956 release since the instructions, while still showing the old rectangle stand, have the famous fighters logo. Aurora began putting 'new logo' instructions into kits before the end of 1956.

From the early to mid 1960s. This stick and tissue kit can be powered by rubber as designed, converted to electric or built for static display. Features traditional construction techniques with quality, die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood, fully formed wheels and thrust button, wood stock as required, fully formed wire landing gear, rubber motor, plastic prop, wood thrust button, clear material for windscreens, a sheet of full color insignia, covering tissue and detailed, full-size plans and building instructions. Complete and never started. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
