This deluxe issue dates from the early 1970s. It is a large scale, robust design for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using modern tiny and light servos and receivers. Rare 1950 issue is very near to 1/72 scale. The model Features 2D factory cut fuselage & wing, a die-cut sheet of parts, fully finished wheels and excellent plans/instructions. NOTE: the fuselage has been slightly started. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts & plans present. In the 1930s and 1940s, most modelers built the flying stick and tissue type models with rubber, co2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited offerings. Many manufacturers, such as Comet issued blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits.

A very rare kit from about 1941/42. This model is 'Identical to the one used in the Model Building Program of the US Office of Education sponsored by the US Navy, Bureau of Aeronautics' which was a program launched in 1941. During WWII the higher speed of aircraft made the traditional WW1 'recognition cards' nearly useless and 3D models were needed. The US Armed Forces looked to the general population to produce recognition models. While not fully successful due to irregular quality and supply, it quickly paved the way for superior injection molded recognition models. This kit features wood blocks, sheets and stock, glue, sandpaper, an excellent, very thick paper template, outline & gauge sheet as well as fold-out full size plans with aircraft history and detailed carving and building instructions. Never started and complete. Although misidentified, the "Sento Ki-001" is a single-engine, low wing monoplane (that is not a Zero). The large right end flap on the box has fallen off and is inside the box. The left one, with the name of the kit, is present. The box is only 'good-'.

Very rare. This mid 1950s model includes all four kits in the original early Comet one-color flip top boxes. The Comet Gift Sets were well advertised but seldom seen. The kit boxes inside are all in 'Near Mint' to 'Mint' condition. The condition of the models is as follows: PL-4 Skyknight, PL-6 Thunderstreak and PL-5 Skyray: never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. PL-3 Starfire: never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing two pilot's busts. Otherwise complete with all other pieces, decals and instructions present. The box is graded 'very good' because of the dark stain at the lower left. Please note, this kit must be shipped insured.

Rare early USA plastic model kit. The mid-1950s Comet hardbox is in 'very good+' condition and the kit inside is excellent. This is the larger of the two Comet S2Fs in near 1/48 scale. As with most Comet kits, this one is well molded with all recessed panel detail and no unsightly rivets. Features retractable sonar dome and MAD boom, extensive clear windows, wing search light with clear cover, rocket under-wing load out, rotating propellers and display stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays better than the 'very good+' grade but is rated as such because is clear tape on the two short sides and one 1" x 1/4" tape tear from the factory sealing tape.
