Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

For the advanced Hawk collector. The side panel says 'Deluxe' and this kit certainly is. Includes rare factory paint discs in medium blue and black, a paint brush, full 'Painting Models' instructions, three small sheets of US Navy decals and more. The actual kit is a solid wood model from around 1942. Features 3D factory-cut and tapered fuselage, completely finished engine nacelle, factory cut wings, horizontal & vertical stabilizers, fully finished wheels, metal three blade propeller with hub and wood stock as necessary. There is even a Hawk illustrated fold-out sheet that explains how airplanes fly. Never started. Inventoried with all parts, paint, brush, decals, 'Instructions for Painting Models' sheet and How An Aircraft Flies sheet. NOTE: Missing assembly plans. Hawk was one of the few manufacturers making wooden kits to a constant scale of 1/48 in the 1930s. Hawk kits were very complete and included plastic or metal details and superb quality drawings for the true scale enthusiast.

Rare kit from 1957. This is a highly prefabricated, rubber-powered, wooden scale flying model kit. It features beautiful, completely finished Monofoil upper and lower wings, die-cut fuselage sides and formers that are factory painted yellow, precarved wooden parts, fully finished wheels, die-cut clear windscreens, prop and pilot bust, fully formed wire landing gear, rubber motor, sandpaper, tissue, decals and excellent instructions. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in amazing 'excellent+++' condition and the instructions are 'very good++' with typical age yellowing as the only flaw. Before there were plastic models, there were wooden aircraft kits. These usually came in two types - solid and stick and tissue. The solid models were static and usually contained a few blocks of balsa and sometimes a detail part or two. These "Make Wood Look Like Plane" models required a very high level of skill in carving and finishing. The stick and tissue variety were slightly easier to build and provided the ultimate thrill - they could fly when complete with rubber power (and later with free-flight gas and eventually RC). They still required a great deal of skill, so manufacturers sought ways to make model building more accessible to everyone. One idea was pre-carving and/or prefabrication. This raised prices, naturally. Many manufacturers launched lines of 'easy' to build flying models but only Monogram succeeded in making an entire line at an affordable price that would actual fly. The original "Speedee-Bilt" kits were in one-piece two-color boxes. In the early 1950s, shortly before plastic kits were available, Monogram changed to the 'hardbox' with a lithographic slick glued to the top as this kit. Speedee-Bilt kits contained die cut and pre painted wooden parts, completely formed airfoil wings, carved wheels and numerous plastic details like engine cowl, pilot, missiles, prop and more. Assembly was by detailed full size plans.

Features a modified Eiffel 400 special soaring airfoil, optional power pod, prefabricated with many finished parts, top quality die-cut balsa wood and birch plywood pieces, hardware packet, clear canopy, turned nose code, light weight plastic power pod fairing, scale decals, detachable wing panels for easy transport and more. Includes beautiful full-size plans that include building instructions. This kit has not been started. The harware packet is still factory sealed. The other parts have been inventoried and note: missing the following die-cut balsa sheets: #6 and #12. This Robbe motor-glider is a highly prefabricated model that includes a plastic fuselage with all necessary holds and cuttings done (down to the nose for perfectly pre-defined thrust angle), anodized aluminum tail boom, factory-built wings with main parts of hardwood, factory-built tail feathers, electric motor and mount, 6x6" folding propeller, spinner and motor switch unit, very complete R/C hardware pack, light-weight vacuformed canopy (still factory sealed and in superb condition), extensive, full color decal (sticker) sheet and more. Never started. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory. Robbe sealed most of the parts in clear bags; those parts are still factory sealed. This Robbie sailplane is highly prefabricated and features a Plura plastic fuselage with all necessary holes for the horizontal fin precision factory-made, profiled tailplane panels, slotted for pivot tubes, profiled all-balsa rudder, all balsa wings of 'Jedelsky' construction with all parts accurately profiled and die-cut (no covering material need), all wing joiner parts and brass joiner tubes, extensive R/C hardware packet, lightweight vacuform canopy and much more. Includes color decals (factory mounted to the underside of the box top with red 'Robbe' tape, extensive full-size plans and a large instruction book in four languages including English. Never started. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory. Robbe sealed every small part in clear bags; and put the larger parts in open clear bags. The only parts not in factory bags are some of the larger balsa and lite-ply diecut sheets and the wooden strip stock (which is still sealed together with Robbe red tape). Includes all paperwork. This is a large, control line competition or sport stunter aircraft. Features precision cut foam wings, form plastic fuselage top, cowling and lower air scoop, clear bubble canopy with framing, printed fuselage sides (build directly on the wood), large hardware pack with heavy duty nylon bellcrank, nylon hinges & nylon control horns, colorful decals, formed torsion bar landing gear, die-cut balsa and plywood parts, text instructions and full size plans. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neat adult constructions as noted: wood leading edges glued to foam cores. There is no other assembly. Quality of construction is excellent. The leading edges are very neatly sanded to the correct shape. Inventoried and NOTE: missing some stock wood and one easy to make block. Details: missing (5) of (6) 1/16 wing sheeting, the small section of 1/8 balsa sheeting for the lower mid section of the fuselage and missing (1) of (2) 1/2" 45 degree blocks; easy to make since the other is present as a pattern. Rare, 1950s deluxe solid wood model kit with a good amount of prefabrication. Features factory 3D cut fuselage, 2D cut wings and tail, plastic wheels, propeller, pilot & canopy, high quality light plywood printwood wing and landing gear struts & shocks, wood stock as required, cardstock templates for assembly and sanding, two colorful decal sheets for RAF No. 43 Squadron including all black & white checkerboards, national insignia, fin flash and even optional Squadron Leader's red and white checkerboard for the vertical stabilizer and more. The very large, fold-out plans are exceptional. They feature large, multi-view, detailed drawings of the completed model, small detailed views, wing and fuselage sections, numerous detail notes, comprehensive text building instructions, painting and marking guide, aircraft specs and more. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The plastic parts are still in the original wax paper bag. Avian was manufactured by Minikscale Ltd, Liverpool, 19, Great Britain. Avian advertised tese as 'Quarter Scale Super Detailed Solid Kits' that are 'Accurate True-To-Scale Models' and they certainly are. Other models in the 1/48 constant scale series included SE-5A Scout, Albatros D-III, Sopwith Camel, Spitfire Mk.V, Hurricane Mk.IIc, Mustang Mk.1, Tempest, F-100 Super Sabre, Supermarine Swift F4 and Supermarine S.6.B Schnieder Trophy Racer. The box says "More Types to Follow."
