Very rare first issue from the early 1950s. When Aurora moved to the West Hempstead plant, they planned a series of very large scale bombers. All kits released up to this time had been small. Aurora's instincts were correct, and the B-26, B-25 and B-29 were a big sales success. This box art was done by Jim Cox and was only used for about one year, making it very rare. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, large clear stand, instructions and decals. The box has great color, four solid corners with no repairs, no creasing, no stains, fading or writing, no cardboard tears or rips, no price tags and no tape beyond the factory sealing tape. There is light general wear and please note that the box displays slightly better than the 'Excellent' grade but it is rated as such because there is light general wear not visible in the photo and a 1.5" x 3/8" factory tape tear on the top long side.

Rare first issue from 1956 with Northern Lights logo which includes a very colorful, never opened metal tube of Aurora Cement and also the factory tissue paper. The box is in beautiful "Excellent+++" condition with factory-new color & gloss and four solid corners. There is no fading, no stains, no tears or missing litho, no creases and no price tags or tag marks. It would have graded 'Near Mint' but there is a very small (11mmx 5mm) factory tape pull on the upper long side. Molded in the correct gloss deep green with flexible black treads. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, glue, tissue packing paper and includes decals and instructions.

1963 issue in an excellent hardbox with very good gloss and color. This kit was issued after Aurora bought Comet's molds. Comet had made two B-58s - a very small scale one and a bigger version, as they did with many models. This one is the larger version. The original molds were cut in the late 1950s and the kit is well detailed for it's time with all recessed panel lines, full landing gear, the large fuel/weapons single 'pod', clear windshield, pilot and the Comet 'teardrop' base display stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing two wheels. Otherwise complete with all other parts and includes decals and instructions, both in 'excellent' condition.

Rare 1964 hardbox issue. This is the large ex-Comet F-104. In the early 1960s Aurora purchased Comet's line of molds. As was their custom, Comet often cut two molds of most kits - a smaller scale and a larger scale version. Aurora reissued both of the F-104s - the small 1/110 scale and this larger 1/62 kit. Aurora did not make many of the 1/62 edition and possibly only issued them once - this is most likely because they did not sell; Lindberg and Hawk already had excellent, 1/48 scale F-104 kits on the market. Features raised panel line detail, pilot & seat bust, clear canopy, wing tip tanks and a large decal sheet. Includes the modified Comet 'tear drop' shaped base display stand because the model is in the in-flight configuration. Molded in gloss medium gray and clear. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are in excellent condition with light yellowing and edge wear being the only flaws. The box would grade higher than 'good++' but is rated as such because of the small dent at the center left side as shown.

Still factory sealed but the seal is split and starting to disintegrare on one end. This Big 'A' Logo issue is dated 1972 and this is likely the third release of this kit. Features full cockpit, pilot and copilot figures, rotating main and rear rotors and optional weapons load of miniguns or rocket pods. In the late 1960s Aurora realized that the older molds were out of date and modelers were demanding more realism. They made a new set of molds for ships, airplanes and helicopters. These were significant improvements as the new molds were on par with current offerings. This Cobra kit is one of the improved models.

There is one 1.5" split in the seal on the left short side panel and is along the corner. There is no box damage.

In the mid 1950s, Crown Plastics advertised the release of a series of Knight models - some of the very first plastic figure kits every made. However, before Crown entered production, Aurora agreed to market the line for Crown in 1956. The copyright on the instructions is '1956 Crown Plastics, Inc. Princeton, New Jersey'. These were the first of all Aurora figure kits and the first issue of the Aurora Knights. The kit numbers were K1-98, K2-98 and K3-98. The 'Knights' sold well, and so within the first year, Aurora bought the three molds from Crown Plastics. What is not commonly known is that there were two 1956 K1-98 Silver Knight issues. They both shared the same part number but the difference is in the lower right-hand logo. (The first issue had the early Aurora 'Northern Lights' logo with a large 'Crown Line' logo inside it. This kit, the second one, has the 'Famous Fighters' logo, a larger 'AURORA' and a much smaller 'Crown' logo at the bottom center. Inside, the plastic parts are a bright silver color with a yellow plume in excellent condition. The instructions are the correct Aurora Crown issue. The kit has never been started. The shiny, silver plastic parts are still in the original factory bag. The instructions are in amazing 'near mint' condition.

Original issue hardbox dated 1969 and in remarkable 'Excellent++' condition. This kit was originally designed as a gas powered flying model. However, Aurora discontinued the gas powered line very shortly after introduction due to returns and liability issues. Since the mold investment was already made, Aurora marketed these kits as large scale static models and they became know as "Screwdriver Kits" to collectors. For example, the 1/32 scale B-25 was issued in Gas U-Control and then static - but the P-51 may have only been issued in static. Molded in dark blue, light blue and clear & with many metal parts and even includes it's own screwdriver so you didn't have to ask Dad to borrow his. Never started. The metal parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. All other parts have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals in superb 'Near Ming' condition and instructions are 'Near Mint+.' The original factory screwdriver has the correct clear yellow handle.

Still factory sealed and in a 'Excellent+++' box. The seal has two small splits and is missing a section on the left short side. The box certainly displays 'Near Mint+' but is graded lower because there is a small, short puncture near the bottom of the top long side. This is the rare 1960s issue retaining the same artwork as the 1956 issue. This kit has arguably the most dramatic and fanciful B-29 artwork from the 'Golden Era' of modeling. Responding to market information that boys wanted larger kits, Aurora introduced the B-26 followed by the B-29 and B-25, all of which sold well for many years. This is likely the 5th issue and the final one with the original artwork (I believe the 6th issue is the 'AURORA' logo issue with the red/orange sky). Note here that the rectangle 'Northern Lights' logo has been replaced with the Aurora sunburst oval logo, hence the yellow background.
