AMT Model Kits for sale
AMT was founded in 1948 by West Gallogy Sr. in Troy, Michigan. Originally, the company was called Aluminum Model Toys, but quietly changed to AMT when injection plastic molding became viable in the late 1940s. AMT got its start creating dealer promotional model cars in 1:25 scale. Gallogy had connections with Ford so his models were shown exclusively in Ford dealerships. AMT grew to become the main supplier of promotional models to American car companies. In the 1960s the importance of the promotional models began to decline but at the same time modeling began to explode in popularity. AMT's kit sales increased accordingly. In the late 60s AMT released the California Hauler 359, a popular truck kit based on a Peterbuilt 359. In 1966 AMT got the rights to make Star Trek model kits. The 1966 Enterprise model is one of AMT's best selling kits.

Features fully detailed F-2 Tandem suspension, operating 'Select-A-Point" sliding suspension, air brake system with flexible lines, mud guards, rear doors that open realistically, two position support assembly either 'raised' or lowered for static display and more. Molded in white, chrome plate, red-tinted clear and with rubber tires and metal axles.

Very large scale first-generation T-Bird features detachable hard top, 312CID Thunderbird Special engine with flexible ignition wires and hoses, detailed engine compartment, opening hood, complete interior, opening doors, underside driveline, suspension and exhaust, many optional parts for the custom version and decals for the custom version. Molded in light blue, chrome, clear, red tinted clear and with rubber tires. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals are for the custom version only; they are flat and intact but have numerous stains on the backing paper. I would rate the decals as 'fair-'.

Also includes a complete Go-Cart kit and go-cart bed racks for transport. The kit has never been started. US versions are from 1950 (Korean War) and Royal Navy version is Squadron 849, 1956.

George Barris served as the AMT consultant for the customized kits and designed and built the 'Movie Car of the Year' for the movie 'Villa Riviera.' This model will build the stock, Barris Custom or Barris' movie version. Features numerous optional parts for the suspension, exterior and interior, complete engine with your choice of factory GS Dual-Quads & large chrome dual-snorkel air cleaner or a custom Latham Blower, detailed engine compartment, opening hood, detailed chassis (mainly molded in), rear seat tv, dual telephones, stock or custom dashboards, and more. Includes custom decals and a unique frosted clear display stand. Molded in white, clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate and with narrow white-wall rubber tires. Even includes the original vinyl material for the interior. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing (1) small part, a red-tinted tail light. This is a simple rectangle and can be easily made from scrap re-tinted clear from your parts box. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals (in 'excellent' condition) and instructions present.
