Comet Boeing 707 Stratotanker (367-80 - Dash 80), 1/125, PL800-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$110

Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits. There were two Boeing 707 models made. This is the two-piece box larger scale (1/125) 'Stratotanker' - not really a tanker model at all, but a nice kit of the famous Dash-80 Prototype Tanker/707, which lead to the world's first commercially-successful airliner. Well molded with fine recessed panel lines, landing gear and prototype decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions in 'as new' condition.

The result is an excellent early 737-100. First, Monogram filled in the side windows. Then they added very fine and accurate full panel lines to the entire model even down to the nacelles. and Much-needed flap hinge covers (fairings) were added to the lower wings.
