The Albatross was the primary sea rescue aircraft of the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service, a branch of MAC - Military Airlift Command. Operational service began in 1947 and Hu-16s saw wartime action in Vietnam.

Rare long box from 1957. Features hinged windshield, rolling wheels, rubber tires, driver, two combat troops and detailed M3-37mm field gun. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The "Monogram Military Wheels" series was first released in the late 1950s and are such fine models that they still in high demand today by both builders and collectors. The original line included the Jeep and 37mm Anti-Tank Gun, US Army Armored Half Track Multiple Gun Carriage, US Army Eager Beaver Truck, Patton Tank, M-29C Weasel, The Fabulous GIs and US Army M3A1 Armored Personnel Carrier. All had many action features and nearly perfect fit and finish. Monogram expanded the line in the 1960s and early 1970s with additional USA and German tanks.

Rare 1958 original issue with an 'Excellent' condition box top. Color and gloss are as new, there are four solid corners, no tears, missing litho, price tags or tape. Flaws are light edge wear and some light age foxing as seen at the upper right. This classic 'Four Star' kit is very well molded & detailed and features working flexible tracks, moving winch, elevating and swiveling machine gun, operating doors, full interior, rubber front tires, accessories and 9 realistic figures. Very rare, one and only issue dated 1960. When Monogram invested in the tooling for the 18 aircraft "Air Power" set, the sales did not meet expectations. In order to increase revenue from the molds, Monogram issued three separate kits- the "Refueling Group," "Bomber Group" and "Fighter Group" in the "Forty Niner" series with the Tu-16 Badger, F-101 and P-40. These kits utilized aircraft from the Air Power set with special blue-molded display stands, unique decals and instructions. The two aircraft are well molded with recessed panel line detail. Decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition and the instructions in 'near mint+' condition. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: this kit must be shipped double-boxed for protection.

2nd issue of this kit with the 'Blue Box' dated 1967. Very highly detailed. The kit has many action features: When you pull the prop outward and rotate it CCW, the landing gear retracts. Pull it outward and rotate it CW, and the gear extends. Push the prop in, and it freewheels as normal. Kit features a movable control surfaces, highly detailed cockpit, full decals, sliding canopy and instructions for rigging. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one tiny, easy to make part: (1) #6. This is a very small round part with a hole in the middle. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals and instructions present.

1996 reissue of the original 1959 kit using the same molds and box artwork. One of a very famous series of space kits that Monogram made with the designer Willy Ley. This is the 1968 release of this kit, which may have only been issued twice. The Boeing SST was modeled here in the second (-200) variant which still had the swing-wing design which proved impractical in this aircraft. The damaging effects of sonic booms over population centers ultimately contributed to the cancellation of the project. Nicely molded with all recessed panel lines. The beautifully chromed parts in mint condition and includes a Weiand manifold, six Stromberg carbs, six air cleaners, carb linkage & water outlet and excellent instructions. Never started and complete. The parts are still wrapped in the original factory tissue paper. The clear cellophane window on the back is in mint condition. In an attempt to make the superb but very expensive 1/8 car molds pay off, Monogram issued some parts separately as accessories for any larger car models. The entire line came out in 1963 and consisted of AK201-59 Six Carb Assembly, AK202-59 Oval Gas Tank, AK203-79 Drag Race Set, AK204-79 GMC Blower Set, AK205-79 Chrome Wheel Set, AK206-100 White Wall Drag Slicks and AK207-79 White Wall Tires. Sales were very weak because all of the 1/8 scale car kits were very expensive for that time, so and the line was discontinued.
