WSW SMS Blucher Cruiser, 1/700, WSW700-37

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare model of a great subject. Finely cast from high-definition resin and superior in detail to injection molding. The main hull and larger parts are resin and there is round brass stock in various diameters for the masts and yards as well. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. WSW stood for 'Wings Ships and Wheels' and all production was in Germany. To ship modelers world-wide they are best know for their superb line of 1/700 models, many of which are still the only kit available for that subject. The Blucher was built to compete with the Invincible-class battlecruisers. Unfortunately, the German intelligence on the Invincibles was wrong, and Blucher was built as a large protected cruiser. This hybrid ended up being larger and overmatched for any other cruiser, but unable to stand in the main battleline. Blucher saw a great deal of action early in the war with the High Seas Fleet. However, the Germans were not quite sure how to deploy her, as she ended up in the Battlecruiser Squadron at Dogger Bank. She was already slightly slower than Hipper's main ships (Seydlitz, Moltke and Derfflinger) as was a full 4 knots slower than the pursuing British in Lion. Blucher quickly ended up in the van and was quickly outgunned by the superior British force. These hits slowed her further. Hipper decided to leave her to save the more valuable battlecruisers. Blucher sank with a great loss of life.

Comet P-40 Tiger Shark - 13 Inch Wingspan Plastic Flying Airplane Model, CC-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare flying model from the late 1960s/early 1970s. It is still in the original Comet cardboard mailing box. These models were once fairly common, but almost none of them survived due to their fragile nature. This is a fully decorated 3D (not profile) model with the main airframe parts made from flexible, durable and very thin vacuformed plastic. Also features two wing spars (also from plastic), a plastic vacuformed cowling, plastic wheels, plastic propeller with spinner and separate thrust button, very light and thin fully formed wire landing gear, wood rubber motor retainer and light metal rubber hook/propeller shaft. There is a large sheet of fully illustrated step-by-step instructions and also a Comet Catalog/Flyer with an order form. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. This model reminds me of Comet's 'Ready To Fly' line except those were assembled and usually had a cardboard wing instead of plastic. While the other 'Ready To Fly' line never performed well because they were far too heavy, this vacuformed all plastic model is super-light weight as you would imagine.
