The kit has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals, flags, metal railings and correct first logo instructions. This kit has a fascinating history directly linked to the origins of USA plastic ship modeling. Originally produced by Varney in 1944, it was novel at the time as it was highly detailed, had a wooden hull, cardstock but all injection molded tenite deck parts and details. When the early Varney aircraft and ship kits did not sell well, Gorden Varney sold the molds for the kit to O-lin (Olsen and Lindberg). O-Lin reworked the kit using a vacuform hull, cardstock deck, metal railings and tenite parts. When Lindberg took full control of O-lin, he modified the molds for a third time so the kit has metal railings and all other parts are injection molded. That is this model.

The Air Force Rescue Boats were the fastest among all Air Force craft. Built by Detroit Basin Inc, they were designed to reach a downed aircraft very quickly and rescue the crew in the least possible time. They were powered by three 1,500 horsepower Packard V-12 gasoline engines and fully crewed by 14 men and 2 officers. After reaching a downed aircraft, the pilots were brought aboard through a gate in the transom. In the event the flight crew was injured, the well in the stern leads directly into a sick bay with 12 litters. To ward off attackers, these vessels were equipped with two 20mm twin mount cannons and plenty of ammunition. They had radar and could operate in all weather conditions.

Revell 1910 International Auto Wagon - Highway Pioneers US Antique Series, 1/32, H62-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1954 early issue molded in bright yellow plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Third issue of this classic kit. The box is dated 1956 but you can see the new 'Famous Fighters' logo with the sunburst in the oval which would date this kit to 1957-59. Earlier in the 1950s a company called 'Helicopters for Industry' created a line of large early kits. In 1956 Aurora bought the molds and quickly reissued these models with new box artwork. Large kit features cockpit, spinning rotors, rotating wheels and opening doors. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear plastic. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Boeing B-29 Superfortress, 1/76, 372-259

The box is in exceptional condition with brilliant colors and gloss. There are no split corner and no repairs. Light edge wear as the only flaw. Responding to market sources that boys wanted larger kits, Aurora introduced the B-26 followed by the B-29 and B-25, all of which sold well for many years. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with very high gloss silver parts, correct large 'Globe' two piece clear stand and correct decal sheet, mint condition instructions and even the original packing tissue paper.

Entex 1914 Dennis Fire Engine, 1/16, 8473

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

This is the Entex reissue of one of my favorite Bandai 1/16 scale series. This kit has over 500 parts. Super-detailed model builds up a rolling chassis just like the real fire truck. Includes four firemen, highly detailed engine with pipes and ignition wires, working suspension system, full drive train with exhaust, steerable front wheels, operating extension ladder, opening hood, detailed engine compartment, complete interior and much more. Molded in multiple colors, clear and with real rubber tires. The kit has not been started. Almost all parts are still in factory sealed bags. The only two trees to not be sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and a very well produced, large instruction book with color painting photos. The box would grade higher but it has a closed tear on the top; you can see it if you look closely.
