Revell Aerial Ladder - American Firefighters, 1/48, F205-169

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

Sold

Still factory sealed. This rare kit was not sealed outside, but Revell placed the contents in the lower box tray, then ran it through the sealing machine. The box top could then be removed by potential buyers so they could see the kit before the purchase. The seal is split and somewhat tattered, but it has never been removed. Very rare and the most difficult kit to find in the American Firefighters series. This is the first Revell issue, and the box and artwork by M Jovine are both dated 1954. This is a large 1/48 scale model featuring three highly detailed horses, hitch, carriage with frame detail, rubber hose, rope and metal chain, along with four firefighters and a Dalmatian dog. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1954 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

Revell Steamer American Firefighters, 1/48, F200-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG+

Sold

1953 issue that is still factory sealed. These kits were sealed in a unique way. First, Revell packed the parts into the lower box tray. Then they ran it through the sealing machine (without the top). Then the box top was installed. At the hobby shop, willing buyers could lift the top off and see what they were buying, yet the parts were protected from loss by the seal. Molded in the correct white, red and gold. Includes two highly detailed horses, harness material & real metal chains, hitch, carriage with frame detail, flexible hoses, two firefighters and a Dalmatian dog. Monogram Racing Mercedes 540K Slot Car With Tiger X-200 Motor - Race As Stock Or Classic, 1/24, SR2407-698

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very rare model for the advanced Monogram collector or slot car enthusiast. Dated 1964. When the slot car craze took hold, Monogram boldly introduced nine very well engineered 1/24 and 1/32 kits. The models were so well done and expensive that they did not sell well; $7 was a small fortune back when most models were between 29 and 98 cents. The Monogram Mercedes claims to be the "Most Complete Detailed Racing Model - Ready to Assemble and Go!" and it was no idle boast. Features light-weight brass chassis that is strong and rigid, precision steel threaded-end axles, bronze bearings, steel drawn crown gear, nylon pickup, braided pickup brushes, brass screws, nut and other hardware, precision lightweight aluminum machined wheels with threaded hubs, powerful new tiger X-200 12V motor, Tiger Traction rubber racing tires with complete Goodyear details and more. The car parts are molded in red, white, chrome plate and clear plastic. Inside, all of the interior display cardboard and plastic is intact and in superb condition. All of the parts that were originally factory sealed are still factory sealed except the motor. The motor was removed for inspection only - it has never been run and is NOS. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried 100% complete and includes 'near mint' condition decals. All the paperwork is complete (which is rare), including the instructions, the " Tuning Tips / Alignment / International Racing Colors" booklet and a beautiful full color mini-catalog for the entire series of Monogram Slot Cars. The instructions are excellent other than a 1.5 inch closed tear. Please NOTE that the box has correct and neat repairs to three closed split corners. They were repaired from the inside with light cardstock and book binding cement. The entire line of Monogram Slot Cars consisted of a 1/32 MGA Sports Car, 1/32 Deuce Roadster and the following 1/24 scale vehicles: '55 Chevy Hardtop, '40 Ford Pickup, Duesenberg, '34 Ford Coupe, '36 Ford Coupe, '58 T-Bird and Mercedes 540K. If you know your Monogram cars, you can see that Monogram wisely utilized the molds of pre-existing Four Star kits to make these motorized versions from.
