Aurora Jet Commander - Rockwell 1121, 1/72, 85-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1968 issue hardbox issue and a nice kit for that time. Features recessed panel lines, full interior with rear bulkhead, couch, chairs and console, cockpit with chairs, instrument panel, control yokes, forward bulkhead and clear windows. Includes optional position landing gear and colorful decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried and includes all parts, decals and instructions. The Jet Commander was the jet-powered follow-on to the famous Aero Commander twin private aircraft. But shortly after 1121 delivery began in 1965, Rockwell bought Aero Commander. The 1121 was competition for the Rockwell Sabreliner business jet in the same class, so Rockwell sold the Jet Commander to IAI. Famous nicknames assigned to the early 1121s included the familiar 'ground pounder', 'lead sled' and more unique 'Jet Commode'. Initial releases under IAI were called the 1123. Improvements to the 1123 design lead to the IAI 1124 Westwind powered by Garrett 731 fan engines. I won't recount here all of the nicknames for the IAI Jet Commanders...but the most printable include "Bagel Bomber" and "Yom Kippur Clipper." Legend has it that these molds were lost and/or destroyed in a train wreck. Monogram bought Aurora's molds and was transporting them to the Monogram factory when the accident happened.

Pyro Dutch Staten Jacht - Yacht, B261

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Pyro is long out of the plastic model business but is famous today for the esoteric collection of kits they produced. The seemed to care little about popularity but designed kits based on historical significance or local interest. The quality of the kits is generally high. This model is no exception. During the 17th century, the Dutch built light, swift and beautifully finished yachts for pleasure and affairs of state. Charles II during his exile in Holland developed a fondness for Dutch yachts, and sailed home in a beautifully appointed Jacht that the Prince of Orange loaned to him. Later Charles built a flotilla of them and arranged races. Nicely detailed kit with full deck details and fitting, molded ratlines and billowing sails. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The scale is unknown, but the kit is about 8 inches long.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

SALE!! Includes two models in one box. Ideal builder kits only (not collectible), please read carefully for the condition. NOTE: these models have 'professional' quality subassembly as follows: Kit #1, both wing halves; benches and doors (in the closed position) to fuselage halves; cockpit tubs assembled (but not installed in the fuselage) and hinges for control surfaces to the wings. Kit #2: exactly has Kit #1 plus elevator hinges installed and skies assembled to fuselage halves. The aircraft have been inventoried complete and include decals and instructions, but NOTE: the display stand are missing. Kit Description: same as the Testors kit as Italeri made the molds. Very nicely detailed with a very fine fabric texture, full cockpit, complete interior including troop benches, wheels and skids and two paratroopers. Has markings for all three aircraft. The Waco CG-4 was designed and initially built by Waco Aircraft Company of Troy, OH. It first saw action in Sicily and the operation was termed a disaster. This likely had more to do with planning than the actual glider. Missions in Europe, including D-Day, went much better. The glider was even deployed to Burma. It could carry up to 13 troops, or a jeep and four men, or a 75mm Field Gun.
