Under it, the white printed cardboard display presentation is still present and in 'factory new' condition and even includes the rare yellow parts spacer box under the white cardboard. The instructions, B-52 Book and decals are present and in very good condition. By this time Monogram was no longer includes the glue, so it is not present. Sterling Piper Tri-Pacer PA-22 - 58.75 Inch Wingspan for R/C - (Tripacer), 1/6, FS1

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Late 1950s or early 1960s giant, full-scale kit designed for R/C. This model was actually made from factory plans provided by the Piper Aircraft Corporation and to this day is one of the most accurate, big-scale Tri-Pacer kits ever made. The model is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for R/C and also includes details for control line operation. Very nicely engineered and features the finest grade and density-selected balsa wood, sanded to micrometer tolerance and precision die-cut, die cut quality hard and plywood for high stress areas, stringers and spars, other wood stock as required, factory-sealed hardware kit, shaped and notched leading and training wing edges, covering material, fully formed thick plastic cowling, formed spring steel main landing gear struts, fully formed, shock absorbing (spring loaded) nose wheel strut, a very large & authentic decal sheet and easy to read step-by-step plans & instructions that cover all steps of assembly, radio, and even control line flying. Never started. All of the small parts are still sealed in the factory clear bags. The parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete and includes all paperwork. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Guillows Supermarine Spitfire - 27.6 Inch Wingspan Flying Wood Aircraft, 403

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Large scale model from about 1965 that can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small and light servos and receivers. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform engine cowling, spinner, exhaust, oil cooler scoop & more, full color decals, covering tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
