Revell DC-7 Flagship American Airlines One-Piece Stand Arm Pre-S Issue, 1/122, H219-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Rare, true first issue dated 1955 with the correct Pre-S fantastic artwork of a DC-7 at the moment just before touchdown. Please note, this is the correct first release with the one-piece plastic stand arm and instructions that illustrate this. There is even a rarer factory rubber stamp on the instructions to correct step one! Also, the main gear axles are separate parts on this issue. On the second issues the gear struts were modified and the axles were moved to the wheels, and the stand arm was changed to two plastic parts because the one-piece stand arm was fragile and in use it broke easily. Very few were made as Revell quickly corrected this weakness. Correctly molded in gloss silver and clear and a large, colorful decal sheet. Inside, the kit has never been started. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory with all small parts still factory sealed in the 'krinkle' clear bag and the larger parts not sealed and inventoried complete. Instructions are 'excellent' with the detailed American Airlines route map on the back. Decals are 'excellent' also and flat with no curl and light yellowing. The box has a tear as shown, clear tape on the long sides and general wear as shown. All four corners are solid and original and the color and gloss are excellent.

Revell B-24 Liberator Buffalo Bill With Early One-Piece Stand Arm - Pre 'S' Issue, 1/92, H218-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Very rare 1954 true first issue with correct early stand. The box is graded 'good+' and has brilliant color and gloss, four solid corners, no price tags and no fading. Flaws include light general wear, light chips and a mark where tape once was (just to the left of the nose turret). Molded in correct glossy olive drab and clear with 'Buffalo Bill' decals and rare first issue 'Revelving Swivel Base' stand. This has the one-piece plastic stand arm. This design proved very fragile and Revell quickly replaced it less than one year into sales. The instructions are in 'excellent+'condition and correctly show the one piece stand arm. Decals are still flat and are 'excellent' with light yellowing as the only flaw. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts including decals and instructions. The original 'krinkle' small parts bag is present but open; that is why I had to do a 100% inventory.

Monogram Speedee-Bilt Spad Pursuit - Flying Scale Model Airplane, G8-100

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Early, completely pre-fabricated multi-media kit featuring pre-colored and die cut balsa wood, precarved balsa, finished Monofoil wing, plastic detail parts (such as cowl and prop) and rubber motor. Designed for rubber free flight or Co2 engine power. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all wood and plastic parts, decals and instructions/plans. Before there were plastic models, there were wooden aircraft kits. These usually came in two types - solid and stick and tissue. The solid models were static and usually contained a few blocks of balsa and sometimes a detail part or two. These "Make Wood Look Like Plane" models required a very high level of skill in carving and finishing. The stick and tissue variety were slightly easier to build and provided the ultimate thrill - they could fly when complete with rubber power (and later with free-flight gas and eventually RC). They still required a great deal of skill, so manufacturers sought ways to make model building more accessible to everyone. One idea was pre-carving and/or prefabrication. This raised prices, naturally. Many manufacturers launched lines of 'easy' to build flying models but only Monogram succeeded in making an entire line at an affordable price that would actual fly. The original "Speedee-Bilt" kits were in one-piece two-color boxes. In the early 1950s, shortly before plastic kits were available, Monogram changed to the 'hardbox' with a lithographic slick glued to the top. Speedee-Bilt kits contained die cut and pre painted wooden parts, completely formed airfoil wings, carved wheels and numerous plastic details like cowling, pilot, missiles, prop and whatever was required. Assembly was by detailed full size plans and instructions. Monogram carried the Speedee-Bilt line for several years past it's prime and the advent of plastic kits, a testimony to the quality and popularity.
