Fred Megow was a famous pioneer in the model aircraft field from the late 1920s till 1949. His product lines of semi-prefabricated, solid and stick and tissue kits won him national and extensive world wide distribution - possibly the first modern model manufacturer to achieve this. His fascinating story involves trying novel and untested marketing ideas in the Great Depression, followed my explosive world-wide growth. Mr. Megow was a true pioneer in the early days of modeling and a leader in the low price field so that every boy could afford a kit during those difficult times. Megow also produced scale operating train and trackside kits, ship models (large and small) and automotive subjects. Megow's catalogs claim that they were pioneers in HO scale, and there is documentation to support this fact. Megow's early HO train kits served not only to promote this now-popular scale nationally, but were among the very first train kits. Model train kits were responsible for the explosion in model railroad popularity in the late 1930s - please see the article in this website about these kits.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed. Ideal builder model is the 2010 reissue from the original 1950s Aurora molds (originally obtained from Crown). This kit is the same scale as the other Aurora Knights. In the mid 1950s, Aurora bought three 'Knight' molds from Crown Plastics and issued them as K1, K2 and K3. These were the very first Aurora figure kits and they sported the 1956-only rectangular 'Northern Lights' logo with the correct 'Crown Line' logo inside it. The sales success of the Knight prompted Aurora to launch an entire line of figure kits. The knights themselves stayed in production long after many other figures were discontinued. When Aurora went out of business in 1976, they sold the molds to Monogram. However, Monogram did not release the Knights until well after Revell and Monogram merged.

The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Henschel 129A was the result of an RLM request for a ground attack aircraft capable of attacking armor. This was the result of Spanish Civil War experience. Construction began in October of 1938 and the aircraft first flew on May 20, 1939. The flying characteristics were less than satisfactory. Several aircraft of the pre-production batch did see service in France in a training unit. The "A" variant was never mass produced as the more powerful and docile Hs-129B was put into production.
