In the early 1950s Aurora was making children's toys. Since they were always looking for new avenues of business, the three founders were interested in the new fad of 'plastic models'. They were shown the Hawk F-90 and F9F kits in 1/48, and the rest is history. Aurora copied the F9F and F-90 to issue their very first plastic kits. The boxes were two color one-piece flip top boxes of very thin cardboard; the damaged so easily that the kits were immediately reissued in the more familiar 'hardbox' of a litho slick glued to heavy cardboard. This kit is a 100% original issue. The model is molded in the correct high-gloss medium grey with a clear square "Brooklyn" stand, stand arm and canopy. The model does not rivet detail, nor was it molded with landing gear or missiles. The entire kit is 15 parts including the stand and stand arm. The instructions are the correct early small Brooklyn version with some minor bug damage on the right edge. Decals are correctly marked "The Tatem Company" and are in excellent condition with only a minor curl and very little yellow. The box is intact but has certainly seen better days. As is typical with this issue, there are tears, creases and edge wear as shown. The box has been internally reinforced to prevent further decay, but it still must be handled with care. In summary, a 100% correct, never started and complete kit for the advanced collector of Aurora or military aircraft models.

Twenty seven were produced, and this aircraft led to the famous line of Grumman Biplanes and Monoplanes...F3F, F4F, F6F, etc. Very high quality vac kit. Rare Portuguese Navy training vessel from the late 1890s. When the age of steam made sailing ships less desirable, the famous Thermopylae (known for her races with the Cutty Sark) was sold to the Portuguese Navy and modified to became the Pedro Nunes. Factory copper painted hull. The parts still sealed in bags. Complete with all bags, ratlines, rigging instructions and assembly instructions. NOTE: instructions have insect damage.

Very rare Revell of Germany issue with full instructions in English and German. Large and highly detailed kit. Measures 33 inches long when built. Features pre-formed billowing sails, preformed ratlines, chain and cord for running and standing rigging, 20 crew members, detailed armament, operating propeller hoist and detailed deck fittings. The kit is molded in wood, ivory, tan and mahogany. Also includes complete step by step assembly instructions and full rigging instructions/diagrams. The model has never been started. All parts are still factory sealed. The sails are in excellent condition.

Very rare early kit and the first issue. The 1955 Caddy was Monogram's 3rd car kit; the Midget and Hot Rod were first and second. Unusual Acetate Plastic. Box is excellent with shelf wear scuffs as shown. Inside, all original cardboard packing is complete and the small parts are still sealed in the original factory cello bag. This model was issued in several different colors; this one is red. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts and mint instructions.

This model is the zenith of the ITC Design and Engineering Team, and maybe of all operational plastic model kits. This kit is not only rare but is considered the most complicated operating model ever produced. The large 24.75 inch long model sails from the power of a large electric motor driving twin geared propellers. It changes direction, dives, surfaces, and a Regulus II missile comes out of the hanger and launches...all automatically. The engineering on this kit is fantastic and was a major break-through in it's day (about 1960). The high price and difficulties that youngsters had with assembly/operation made for a short production run. The model worked, and did work well, but was certainly not a toy for inexperienced model builders. This kit is unusual in that it did not have the common 'Seen on TV Maverick' sticker on the box top. Inside, the kit is in mint condition. All plastic parts except the main hull 1/2s are still sealed in the factory bags (the hull halves were never sealed). The blue display cardboard is all complete and in excellent condition. The plastic parts bags are still factory stapled to the Instructions and stickers are near mint and still white. NOTE: The box is only fair. The very top of the box displays VG++, but one side corner is missing a 2 inch section; another side corner is missing a 4 inch section.

Still factory sealed. This is one of Renewal's famous Aeroskin kits, and a rare large one in 1/48. Features markings for the aircraft of the famous Lanoe Hawker. The model has an injection molded inner structure of ribs and stringers like a real aircraft, then the modeler covers it with provided authentic pre-colored Aeroskin fabric. There is no painting needed as elaborate finishes are printed directly on the Aeroskin covering. This results a very realistic and colorful model.
