Very rare near 1/48 scale kit. From ITC molds. When ITC went out of business, Ringo was the name used to clear out the warehouse of ITC stock. NOTE: kit is missing the following parts - Main rotor shaft (could be made from round stock) - four clear, flat windows (could be made from flat clear stock) and one main gear strut. The kit has never been started. All other parts are present. Like most all Ringo kits, this one does not come with decals and the instructions do not mention decals.

The first aircraft to fly across the Atlantic in formation. The S-55 was a unique aircraft with the passenger compartments in the floats and the cockpit in the wing; the two engines are mounted in tandem push/pull above the cockpit. The S-55 proved to be very reliable and airworthy, setting 14 world records for speed, altitude and distance with a payload. Three months before Lindbergh's solo Atlantic flight, and S-55 flew with stops from Italy to Rio and NY City. In 1933 Marshal Balbo led 25 S-55s to Chicago in about 48 hours. He then flew back without incident. Rare early Italian issue with the excellent 34 page heavily illustrated reference book. Never started. Very rare box art with the USA star and circle colors transposed. The star should be white and the circle blue - instead the opposite is true. Aurora caught this mistake very early and only a handful escaped the West Hempstead plant. This was to be the first issue of the P-40 with the new logo - the "Sunburst" with "Famous Fighters" in the boarder.
