Delphis Models De Cristofaro Class Corvette / Pietro De Cristofaro F540 / Umberto Grosso F541 / Licio Visintini F546 / Salvatore Todaro F550 - Circa 1970, 1/700, DM674

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$46

This waterline model is cast in high-definition resin and has higher quality detail than injection molded kits in the same scale. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The De Cristofaro class were beaituful and successful ships. They were given a forecastle, which had never been done in a post-war Italian Corvette. They also had a transom stern, which was a departure from previous practice. As in the somewhat later Alpinos, they had a VDS, in their case a separate SQS-36 handled by a crane mounted on deck. There was also a medium-frequency hull sonar, reportedly a separate SQS-36. The 76mm gun was the successful OTO-Melara type, controlled by an OG 3 director (Orion RTN-7X radar), with an optical director (probably OG 1) aft. The single-barrel Menon mortar was mounted aft, in 'X' position. The power plant was two FAIT 3012 diesel engines and top speed was 23 knots. Cruising range was a very respectable 6,139 miles at 15.9 knots.

Unknown HMS Devonshire D02 Missile Destroyer - D06 Hampshire / D16 London / D12 Kent / D20 Fife / D19 Glamorgan / D18 Antrim / D21 Norfolk - Bagged, 1/700

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$59

This is only 1 of 2 1/700 models made of this ship. This rare waterline kit is of exceptional quality. It is pressure cast, so there are no air holes or pockets. The detail is remarkable down to the very fine decking. The entire superstructure is cast with the hull, which makes it a much better build than the Pit Road kit. the hull has greater detail than is possible with injection molded kits of this scale and the details are also resin. Because of how it is case, there is very little building to do; just the finer details need to be assembled. Includes eleven view plans (3 plus 8 detailed sections) which double as instructions. Never started. The hull is in mint condition as are the smaller parts. After studying the plans, I believe the kit to be complete. However, you will require some stock metal for antennas, masts and the bigger gun barrels. Some scratch building may be required for some finer details. This kit is so much like the Pit Road model [when I hold them side by side] that I suspect that a partially-built Pit Road hull & superstructure were used as the original master.

Air Lines Martin Baltimore Bomber - RAF - (ex Frog), 1/72, 9800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$26

From about 1965. Very finely molded and contains no rivets - just fine panel lines. Features rotating turret, crew of three and some interior detail and optional position landing gear. Molded in silver and clear with the large round Frog clear stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all from Frog molds. The Lines Brothers imported them to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which tastefully display the boxart without the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.
