Bagged kit - no box. Unique kit from 1968. This model features Monogram's excellent F8F and P-51B kits molded in Racing Blue and Bright Red, special racing decals, and a large scale heavy cardstock red/white checkerboard 3-D pylon with special stand arms for a 'in flight' display of both aircraft rounding the turn. Never started. NOTE: both special pylon stand arms are present, but the F8F is missing the stand that came with the regular kit. This will not be used if you mount the aircraft on the racing pylon. One part, a spinner base of the P-51B, is brown instead of red. The part is guaranteed 100% correct, but is from a different issue. Otherwise inventoried complete with all other parts, decals, instructions and red/white pylon in excellent condition.

Still factory sealed. Pyro is long out of the plastic model business but is famous today for the esoteric collection of kits they produced. The seemed to care little about popularity but designed kits based on historical significance or local interest. The quality of the kits is generally high. The skipjack 'Carrie Price' is an exact replica of a typical small sailing vessel used along the Chesapeake Bay area to dredge for oysters. The center keel stabilizer could be pulled up for working in very shallow water. Until 1942 sail was the only power permitted for oyster dredging; after 1942 the state passed a law allowing power boats to be used. This lead to almost all the skipjacks being converted to power and having the main mast cut down. Although it's days are past, many yachtsmen restore and sail this beautiful small craft today.

O-Lin LST - Landing Ship Tank, 1/250, 702

Very rare kit for the advanced collector. From the very early 1950s. This is the O-Lin issue of the Varney LST. The Varney kit line was introduced in the late 1940s and was very innovative - including the multi-media LST and PT boat and what was likely the first injection molded airplane (PT-17) and ship model (Fleet Sub) kits in the USA. These excellent kits were unsuccessful due to poor distribution and incorrect marketing by retailers. Varney soon discontinued production of these four kits. O-Lin, (Mr. Olsen and Paul Lindberg) purchased these molds and modified them in several ways. The LST had been a wooden kit with dozens of injection molded detail parts. The O-Lin kit utilized the injection molded details (done in multi-color tennite plastic), but created a vacuform hull, cardboard deck, water-slide decals and flags and soldered metal wire railings. O-Lin did not use the wooden hull from Varney as a form for the vac hull, but created their own. This kit has not been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bag. The rest of the parts have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
