Aurora Spad XIII, 1/48, 107-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Second issue 'Famous Fighters' hardbox is dated 1957 with great Jo Kotula artwork. This is part of a popular and very successful series of 1/48 scale WWI aircraft that Aurora started in 1956 and added to well into the 1960s. Many of the line were in production right up until the demise of Aurora in the mid 1970s. Molded in correct olive drab and black plastic. NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality sub-assembly as follows: seat to one fuselage half. There is no other assembly. Glencoe Martin MB-2 NBS-1 Bomber, 1/74, 05001

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

From ex-ITC Ideal molds and a very nice kit of the famous aircraft that Billy Mitchell used to sink the 'unsinkable' German Battleship Ostfriesland on July 22, 1921. The ship was defenseless during the attack, but it was the first time that an aircraft had sunk a capital ship. Optional decals are included for the three aircraft (96th Bombardment Sq / 11th Bombardment Sq / 14th Bombardment Sq During the Sinking of the Battleship 'Ostfriesland'). Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Nieuport II French Fighter, 1/48, 101-100

Easily made from flat plastic stock. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals and instructions present. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

AMT USS Akron or Macon - ZRS-4 or ZRS-5, 1/520, T572

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

From the late 1960s/early 1970s. This is a very good model of the famous 'Aircraft Carriers Of The Sky' and contains parts and decals to build either airship. AMT went to a fair amount of effort to provide the separate parts that make each airship unique. The Sparrowhawk aircraft hangar door is molded separately if you wish to super detail the hangar bay. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing the two 'assist rudders' which are nothing but flat rectangles; easily made from stock plastic or card stock. Otherwise complete with all other parts and includes decals and instructions. The Macon and Akron carried their own complement of F9C Sparrowhawk fighter aircraft, which could take off from a large hook while the airship was in flight. Recovery was accomplished the same way and the aircraft were stored in a hangar inside the ship.

Airfix Boeing 314 Pan Am Clipper - Dixie or BOAC Berwick, 1/144, 1415-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

1960s Craftmaster issue. Very well molded and detailed for that time and includes decals for both aircraft. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. In the 1930s Pan Am was a household word in the USA for their romantic foreign routes and the glamorous 'China Clippers' that crossed the Pacific Ocean, stopping at such ports as Wake Island. Pan Am's attention soon turned to the Atlantic. Since non-stop service would be needed, a new aircraft was designed. The Boeing 314 was chosen. This huge flying boat started flying the Atlantic mail in 1939 with a trip over 26 hours long. Before the war, the 314 fleet flew the Pacific, Atlantic and other routes. The airliner was a palace compared to the cramped jets and limited service of today. The flight deck compared to the bridge of a ship and housed 6 crew. It was connected to the passenger cabin by a spiral staircase. The luxurious cabins were divided into 5 standard compartments, each seating 10 passengers, a dining salon for 14, a special compartment for four and a deluxe bridal suite. 74 could be carried on day trips and 40 when sleeping quarters for all passengers was required. Chefs prepared gourmet meals while passengers lounged in deeply cushioned wicker chairs and enjoyed a grand view of the scenery from about 5,000 feet. The age of the Clippers ended shortly after WWII when land planes could operate at much higher speeds than the flying boats.

Highly detailed model from 1973. Although she was a French ship, the Saint Louis was actually one of five 60-gun ships built in Holland. Tamiya M60A2 Remote Control Motorized, 1/35, MT238

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Rare. Tamiya's early armor models were the finest works of the mold maker's art and the very top of that line had push-button remote control and dual electric motor operation. This is one of those kits, featuring factory-assembled, all-metal gear box with two RE-14 electric motors, hand-held remote control, factory wired switch and control unit, metal hardware and a very well detailed model kit of this excellent US tank design. Never started and inside it is like new. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Decals are still in the factory sealed bag also and are in 'near mint' condition, as are the instructions. The box displays better than 'very good' but is graded a such because there is some side corner wear not visible in the photo; nothing serious, but certainly visible when you look from the side.
