Revell Moon Ship - (XSL-01) 'S' Issue, 1/96, H1825-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$349

Rare 1957 first and only Revell issue in investment-grade "Near Mint" condition. When sales of the dramatic XSL-01 Moon Rocket did not meet expectations, Revell molded the top stage in a different color plastic from the XSL-01, added a special 3D Moon Base Stand and boxed it as this stand-alone kit. The result was this Moon Ship with incredible box art. The box art invites you to 'Enter the Age of Space' with these action features: retractable landing ski, removable fuselage section with detailed cabin with controls and instrument panels and a crew of three astronauts. Molded in correct baby blue plastic. This model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box condition details: The color and gloss are perfect. The box looks as if it was just removed from the original shipping box. It actually displays 'Mint' but is graded as 'Near Mint' because there is a very small factory tape litho pull on the long upper long side. The litho pull is on the bottom edge and measures 7mm x 7mm.

Revell F-102A Delta Dagger with 14 Ground Accessories - 'S' Issue, 1/48, H282-298

The ground equipment includes mobile staircase with work platform, tow tug with driver, 'Restricted Area' signs, trailer tongue, missile loading trailer, power cable trailer with reels, engine-hauling trailer, engine unloading trailer, three missile racks, kneeing mechanic figure and mechanic figure with clipboard. The F-102 is molded in silver and clear while the ground equipment is molded in bright yellow. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, both correct decal sheets and both sets of instructions present. Both instruction sets are in 'excellent+++' condition. Both decal sheets are perfectly flat, 100% intact and in 'excellent++' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw. NOTE: while all parts are present, the tiny axles are broken off of the missile trailer and missing. This is unfortunately common with this kit because they are incredibly small and fine. NOTE: the very top of the box displays 'Near Mint++" condition but is only rated 'Excellent++' because there is general wear and scuffing on the two long side panels. Please note that this kit must be shipped insured.

The styling was revolutionary at the time. The car sported a large and powerful V-8 engine and air suspension. The interior was simply stunning, with upholstery combinations such as cashmere, nylon and leather in any number of patterns and styles and plenty of chrome trim. In the rear seat, there was a retractable armrest which contained a storage compartment fitted with a vanity, tissue dispenser, cigarette case and a large mirror. All these items, including custom perfume, were designed just for this car. At a price tag of $13,000 few were made but they are valuable classics today.

This example is in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition with factory new color and gloss, four solid and original corners, no repairs, no fading, creasing or tears, no price tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks at all. The only flaws are very light wear as hown on the box top. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

Revell American Firefighters Chemical and Ladder, 1/48, F201-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$74

First Revell issue dated 1953 with a wonderful hardbox illustration. Features well molded wagon with equipment, real metal chain, horses with material for harnesses, dog and fireman. The kit has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1953 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

Revell 1929 4 1/2 Liter Bentley Highway Pioneers - US Antique Series, 1/32, H63-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$42

Original issue dated 1954 in 'excellent+' condition inside and out. The US Antique series was the first one to have real box art for the exact kit inside. This kit is from old hobby shop stock and has never been sold retail until now; but the box does has light wear as shown. Inside the box, it has not been started. All the parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. Includes instructions. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carries their 'balloon' logo on the box top a the lower right. Not long after this, the Gowland logo would disappear completely, leaving only the Revell logo. It is also worth noting that this is one of the first non-generic Highway Pioneers boxes. Earlier boxes were all the same, with the kit number and car stamped on the side, usually with a red or black rubber stamp. This box is completely dedicated to the Bentley kit, and even has advertisements for very early Pre-S issue Revell 1954 ship and aircraft kits on the long sides. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Revell Custom Car Bumpers And Grilles, 1/25, C1154

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$24

Rare. This is the narrow box version of the early 1960s 'Custom Car Parts' Bumpers and Grills. All parts are chrome plated and the instructions are on the reverse of the card. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts. The other issue was the same part number and title but packed in a card with a clear plastic blister-pack. Although these are not dated, I believe the blister-pack/card version to be the later issue.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++
