UPC Airship R-100 (ex-Frog) - with Mooring Mast, 1/500, 5040-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

UPC (Universal Power Master)kit from quality Frog molds. Rare and excellent kit. Features a large Montreal Mooring Mast and detailed airship with clear engine pods and passenger gondola. The model includes a clever set of metal rods that allows the airship to be displayed 'floating' in mid-air from the mooring mast. R-100 measures about 17 inches long. The kit has never been started. All parts are still sealed in the internal factory plastic bag. Complete with decals and instructions. The R-100 was built by a Vickers Subsidiary. The famous Barnes Wallis worked on her design, which lead to the innovative geodesic airframe used for the Wellington and two other aircraft. The R-100 made a successful Transatlantic flight. Although there were issues, the design was sound. However, the government-built R-101 was not as soundly engineered and crashed on her maiden voyage, forever bringing an end to the Airship in the British Isles. The R-100 was sold for scrap and R-102 was never built. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did almost all the UPC box art in the 1960s, but this kit is unusual in that it kept the Frog Green series artwork. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Aurora Messerschmitt Me-109 (Bf-109) - Yellow Box Ends- Famous Fighters of All Nations, 1/48, 55A-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

I believe this is the 4th edition of this kit, and the first issue with this Jim Cox boxart. Dates from the mid 1956 with small 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo and 'Famous Fighters of All Nations'. It is interesting that this issue did not carry the standard Aurora 'Northern Lights' logo for 1956 - perhaps it was designed at the end of 1955 and simply left that way. Correctly molded in metallic burgundy and clear with the correct rectangular clear stand. For this issue the factory changed the swastikas on the tail to iron crosses and decals as well. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The box shows better than the 'very good++' rating but is rated as such to to a very, very light stain at the lower left and a light stain on the short left side panel.

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Excellent 'N' scale train set from 1986. It has been in climate controlled storage since new. 0nly lightly used. I tested the locomotive and it works fine. I also tested the transformer and it works perfectly. Set includes Consolidated Steam Engine and tender, UP box car, Union 76 tank car, Swift Premium reefer, The Rock gondola, Sante Fe covered hopper and Great Northern caboose. Engine and tender are in 'excellent' cosmetic condition; the cars are all 'near mint.' There is no rust, not even on the track. It is 100% complete with the proper cars, transformer, track, working crossing gate and paperwork. Please note that the crossing gate has two parts broken from it, they are present and a simple repair.

Brifaut Bleriot XI 1909, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG-

Sold

Very rare kit of French manufacture. Like many of the other Brifaut kits, this one features injection molded internal aircraft parts that duplicate the actual aircraft structure, and a fine cloth covering material that looks like silk. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is in factory-new condition. All parts are still internally sealed. The original 'La Racine Touchtout' rigging line is present, along with the cloth covering and all the paper work: 3 pages of aircraft history, a one page photocopied letter from Heri Poydenot (founder of Brifaut), beautiful illustrated instructions and written instructions as well. It is very unusual to find this kit so complete. Other kits in the line are on the side of the box and include the Eole (Clement Ader), Antoinette, Voisin, Nieuport XVII, 'Vieux Charles' and Arc En Ciel. This kit must be shipped insured.
