Comet New Interceptor Gas Model By Carl Goldberg - Free Flight Class 'A' or 'B'

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Sold

Rare kit from 1946. NOTE: this is a builder kit only, please read carefully. This is a (very young) Carl Goldberg design for Class 'A' or 'B' and is designed to climb very quickly then go into a long, flat glide for maximum duration and 'sniffing thermals.' Includes tissue paper, three pages of large plans with directions, Carl's very detailed 'How to Adjust and Fly the New Interceptor' booklet, decals, hardware, nose strut, nose wheel and more. NOTE: this kit has some assembly. It is very neatly done and is flat and straight. The basic fuselage, stabilizer and three inner wing panels have been built. The stabilizer is near mint and has been sanded and is almost ready to cover. The wing sections are well built but have damage that will have to be repaired. The fuselage is very solid and only the firewall support needs to be fixed. The other parts have been very neatly cut out. All other balsa parts are present except three small parts: missing {2} I2 and {1} R2; they are easily duplicated because they are on the plans full size. Part M8 replaces M7 in the instructions and is present. Will be shipped in a large box since the fuselage does not fit into the model box. Model box top does not have ends; I assume it did at one time. Model will be packed very carefully in a large box to avoid any further damage.

MAI Bell X-14 Model 68 - Vertical Takeoff And Landing X-Plane, 1/72, 013

Limited issue, #21 of the run. As will all MAI kits, this one has exceptional mold quality. All parts are cast in high definition resin and the windshield is clear. Never started. Factory sealed bag with instructions. MAI did not furnish decals with this kit, but they did include an extensive markings and paint guide that covers the life of the aircraft. Luckily, the aircraft's markings were standard. The Bell X-14 proved to be the longest lasting of all American X-Plane programs. The X-14 became the first aircraft to fly with a thrust diversion system for vertical life on February 17, 1957. The first successful transition from hover to forward flight occured on May 24, 1958. The X-14 had a custom built fuselage but was mated to the wings, landing gear and ailerons of a Beechcraft 35 Bonanza and the entire tail section of a T-34A Mentor. The success of the thrust system on the X-14 led to it's use in the Hawker-Siddeley Harrier jump-jet.

Life-Like Gouda Dutch Man-O-War - 17th Century (ex-Pyro), 09212

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

From original Pyro molds cut in the late 1960s. Large scale - measures about 14 inches long when assembled. Very nicely molded and detailed kit for it's time. Features well over 250 parts, individually molded cannon, cradles and cannon hull hatches, separately molded fife rails with belaying pins, pre-molded rat lines, billowing sails, blocks and two photos for use in rigging the ship. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions. NOTE: instructions are photocopies from the Pyro kit. Any kit of a Dutch 17th Century Man-o-War is rare - this may be the only injection molded kit ever made of this famous subject. The Gouda fought in the Anglo-Dutch Wars. She was built about 1636 and was commanded by Jan Egbertsz Ooms. The Gouda and other ships from Witte de With's fleet were lost in a storm in early November 1653. Pyro did not cut molds based on popularity, but usually by the historical significance of the subject. This was not a good business practice, but today's collectors and builders are grateful to have kits of these subjects.
