Revell Lodela issue from the early 1960s. Very nice kit of the fantastic Mach .91 airliner from the early 1960s. Two were flown by NASA well into the 1990s due the remarkable engineering (and NASA maintenance). The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Convair 990 and its near sister 880 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. The commercial failure of the 990 caused Revell (and Aurora) to pull these molds from production shortly after the introduction of the kit. The 990 was a larger and faster (Mach .91) airliner than the 880, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two for decades after the last one was phased out of commercial service. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs.

NOTE: builder kit only, please read carefully. One of a very popular line of World War 1 flying aircraft stick and tissue kits with 18 inch wingspan. Kit only includes the following: complete set of die-cut printwood, light weight plastic cowl and full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started. There are no other parts present. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Late 1950 motorized hardbox issue with Ray Gaedke artwork. Features pilot and gunner figures, one piece canopy, centerline large bomb and two wing-mounted smaller bombs, electric motor for the prop, display stand and battery holder with wires. Molded in gloss green and clear. Never started. The motor is still in the factory sealed bag; the model parts have been inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Please NOTE that while the kit is fine, the box has crushing damage shown on the right side in the photo. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. Hugo Junkers giant G-38 was the wonder of Europe for airliner service in 1930. The airplane was the largest in the world at the time. First class was seated in the enormous wing leading edge. The G38 was the subject of some art-deco Lufthansa posters showing no aircraft but a huge shadow of a G38 looming over Europe. These posters bring $5000+ today.

1963 issue and still the only injection molded Apache kit. From ex-Comet molds. Features all recessed panel lines, clear windows, rotating propellers and color decals. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Aurora had started a line of inexpensive 29 cent kits in about 1957. The line was a success, and it was expanded. The line grew again when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, as most of Comet's line was very small scale kits, many of them civil aircraft like this one. It appears that Aurora was encouraged by the sale of the ex-Comet civil aircraft, as it expanded the line with it's own molds in the early 1960s.

Still factory sealed but the seal has multiple splits. Nicely molded with all recessed panel lines. Includes decals for aircraft 201 through 205. This is the fantastic all-Canadian replacement for the CF-100 that was canceled immediately before the first production airframes left the assembly line. The prototypes had flown a great number of hours and the airplane was a great success. The cancellation of the project is in some ways still a mystery today in some aviation circles.

Builds up a rolling chassis just like the real automobile. Chassis includes complete engine and transmission, suspension, exhaust system, drive shaft, axles, tie rod and metal worm gear working steering and more. The engine alone is 34 parts. The six piece hood can be opened and closed. Includes full interior detail, rubber tires, chrome wire wheels, clear windshields and large tree of chrome plated details. Very realistic kit since most items that were metal on the real car are metal on this kit. Never started. All the parts that the factory put in sealed bags are still factory sealed. Only the cast metal parts were never sealed, and they have been inventoried complete. Includes instructions and decals. Please NOTE that most of the cast metal parts have been professionally cleaned of flash. This is very nice since cleaning up the castings is the most time-consuming part of these models.
