Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Revell Convair Atlas - America's First Interncontinental Ballistic Missile - 'S' Issue, 1/110, H1822-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$540

Dated 1958. Very rare ICBM and the first and only issue of this Revell 'S' kit representing the Atlas in ICBM configuration. Reissues are impossible because the the molds were altered to make the Mercury Atlas kit. Very highly detailed and molded in correct white, gray and bright yellow plastic. Features elevating missile support arms and hinged break-away supports, complete launching base, ramp and pad, missile truck and trailer that elevates 90 degrees to load missile and crew. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in exceptional 'near mint' condition with the slightest yellowing as the only flaw. The instructions are also 'near mint' and not even yellowed. The box has great color and gloss, four solid & original corners, no repairs and no fading. However, it is only graded 'very good' because there is corner wear, edge wear and other general moderate to light wear as shown. All four side panels display like the box top does. Shipping insurance is required for this kit. This model has a great history. Fresh on the heels of the initial "Missile Boom" in model kit sales, Revell quickly planned a large series of missile kits. In order to make them more interesting, any accessories that could be included were such as launchers, transports, cranes and crew. Spurred on by early success, Revell decided to create an expensive missile model by adding all the trimmings - a complete base with support equipment. The result was the Convair Atlas ICMB, which sold for the almost unheard of price of $1.98 in 1958. However, the missile kit sales bubble exploded almost right at that moment and inventory turnover dropped to almost zero just as fast. The Atlas and most other Revell, Aurora and Monogram missiles were dropped from the line up. The high price and nearly non-existent sales ensured the rarity of this kit, but there was more to come. For a long time, it looked like Revell had wasted a small fortune on this kit. But in a few short years the Atlas would carry the Mercury Capsule into space. Revell would dust off the molds, cut in the correct changes and issue a new kit, the Mercury Atlas "Everything Is Go!" model. This model was a success for many years but the mold modifications made any reissue of the original Atlas ICBM impossible.

Aurora Northrop P-61 Black Widow, 1/48, 392-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$179

Still in the factory seal and in 'Excellent+' condition. The only flaws are corner creases at the left side as shown. Hardbox issue is dated 1960 - however, this issue lacks the 'Famous Fighters' in the oval logo boarder and has a 198 price extension, so it likely from about 1963/64. Large 1/48 scale model features some of Jo Kotula's finest artwork - the P-61 patrols over a South Pacific island base at night, destroying an intruder (or defender?).

Monogram Boeing B-52D Stratofortress with Jet Sound, 1/72, PA215

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+++

$245

Exceptional 1968 first issue in investment-grade 'excellent+++' condition. Although not flawless, this is the finest box that have ever seen for this kit in my 23 years of collecting. The box is straight and square with perfect color and gloss, no fading and no price tags. The only flaws are minor light general edge wear as shown and some discoloration on one short side where the original price tag was; the tag has since fallen off. Inside, the model is in amazing condition. The original yellow cello internal seal is present but very neatly opened on three sides. One side remains attached. Monogram only sealed this kit from the inside by gluing on the yellow cardboard and clear cello. It was intended for the potential buyer to lift off the box top where they would be greeted with a beautiful display of Monogram workmanship and model design neatly displayed on a cardboard background. All internals are still mint and you can see and even the original unopened tube of Monoglue is included. This is a very nicely detailed model that features 207 pieces, a crew of three, detailed cockpit, elevating and traversing rear turret, opening and closing bomb bay doors, operating wing flaps, operating spoilers, optional position entry hatch and landing gear, and optional parts to display one nacelle open to show the jet engine. The kit has never been started. The motor and hardware are still in the factory sealed bag at the left. The other parts were never factory sealed and they have been inventoried complete. The decals and instructions are in amazing 'excellent++' condition. I have placed the clear parts inside a clear plastic case so they will not be damaged during shipment. Please note that postage insurance is required with this model.
