Model Industries Bill Warner's Strato-Cat (Stratocat) - 30 or 36 Inch Wingspan Gas Powered Wooden Control Line Aircraft Model

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare kit from the 1940s. The Bill Warner Strato-Cat could be built in 30 or 36 inch wingspans with 140 or 180 square inches of wing area. It was designed and produced in the pre-glow plug era, as it has room for a coil, condenser and battery box. All of the small parts and decals are still sealed in two small factory bags. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried 100% complete including decals and plans with instructions.

The meticulously researched box art scene may be of particular interest to admirers of Mr. Gaedke's work. The colorful aircraft combines with abrightly painted, grassy background, including a well turned out (Army) ground crewman, to produce an almost storybook, 'beautiful day in theneighborhood' atmosphere. A most attractive and, in an historical context, almost whimsical image. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.
