Early hardbox issue from the late 1950s with colorful Ray Gaedke hardbox artwork. The box is in amazing investment grade 'near mint' condition with like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, fading, creases or stains. Light general wear and tape marks on the two longs sides are the only flaw. This is the second issue of this kit for the USA, with added fine rivet detail and molded in silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. This kit started as a basic 1/48 scale model with full landing gear, rockets and bombs. Surface detail was minimal Lindberg modified it in the mid 1950s with fine raised panel lines and tasteful rivet detail. In the late 1950s, they modified it again to a motorized version with the batteries in the stand and a kit electric motor in the nose. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'.
